If you think water is just quenching our thirst, you are not quite right. Water has a bigger impact on our bodies.

In recent times, humans seems to have lost their thirst sensation. Even the social media where lots of people spend their time these days, don’t do much effort to change peoples’ perception about neediness of drinking more water.

Soon after wake up

Do you know, having 500ml of cold water right after you wake up helps to burn fat? This will kick start your metabolism (a chemical process that converts fuel in the food we eat into the energy needed to power everything we do). Hence, this habit creates a stimulating environment inside the body for preventing numerous diseases by way of flushing out toxin.

Before a meal

Drinking 500ml of water before each main meal (breakfast, lunch and dinner). Water is an appetite suppressant, having it before a meal make you feel fuller and therefore reduce your usual food intake. Because water is a paramount importance of metabolism, having water 30 minutes before a meal helps digestion. Drink water an hour after the meal to allow the body to absorb the nutrient.

Before bed

Many people have craving for some high-calorie food before bed. This is one of the worst mistake. A glass of water before bed subsides this and you can drift off to sleep. Also, helps your body cycle through toxins and dispel waste. Water helps to balance your body’s vitamins, nutrients and minerals. By drinking water before bed balances, you hormones, energy levels, muscles and joints.

Before, during and after workout / exercise

When you are working out, you will lose lots of water through sweat. This is quite normal and leads to dehydration. Dehydration of the body can cause serious injuries to your health especially during exercises.

How much water you need? Depends on the type of exercises you do. As a general guideline, you could drink 500ml of water before a workout. Another 250ml of water during warm-up or just before the workout. 200-300ml of water during the workout. About 500ml of water within 30 minutes after the workout. However, you do not need to drink all these milliliters of water at one go. You can sip at times.

Actually, you don’t need time and reason to drink water. About 75 percent of our body consists of water.
